Guests should know that Seattle traffic woes will significantly increase in the coming week. According to WSDOT, Seattle commuters will not have access to a portion of Highway 99 along the Seattle waterfront.

Many commuters are making arrangements to stay in local hotels, work from home or avoid the roads altogether. Hotels are offering discounts and specials during this time to entice commute-weary drivers to stay closer to work or home, to avoid the predicted delays.

At University Inn, our parking is always free, as are the continental breakfast and WiFi throughout the hotel and lobby. We also offer competitive rates and have great promotions available. How about getting the third night free after a three consecutive-night stay? These are just some of the many reasons to call us today at 866.866.7977 to learn more and make your reservation to stay off the roads impacted by the viaduct closure next week.

It’s that time of year again when the kids head back to school, the days start getting shorter and weekends are full of football. The University Inn is the prime location for your home base during University of Washington football games. We are located 1.5 mi from the infamous Husky Stadium.

Husky Stadium is known for taking tailgating to the next level. The parking lot is always full of BBQ’s and fans enjoying a snack before the game. Boat moorings are available to arrive to the game via water. There is a shuttle service provided to bring passengers back and forth from the boat to the dock. If you can’t find a spot to tailgate at the stadium, you can rent our meeting space to hold your tailgating party. We can recommend a catering company that will work within any budget.

The Husky Football Season starts September 3 vs. Eastern Washington University. We still have a few rooms available for each of the games so reserve your room today.

The University Inn is located in the heart of the University District of Seattle. Each Seattle neighborhood has a main street that features shops, restaurants and more. Our street, University Way, is four blocks from our front door.

Many don’t know that originally the street was named 14th Avenue. While being the “8 block department store”, it developed a nick name of “The Ave”. Being such a predominate street of the area the locals began to feel that a number for the street name wasn’t appropriate and the University Commercial Club held a contest in 1919 to rename the street. The winner was University Way, but the nick name of “The Ave” stuck.

Today, you will find many eateries, cafés, boutique shops and even the University of Washington Bookstore. The buildings are eclectic including some of the original architecture and some that developed into modern buildings. You can see The Ave as it stood in the 1930’s and what it looks like today in this Seattle PI article. While in the area, experience The Ave and all it has to offer.

During Aug 5 – Aug 13, you can enjoy the Up Your Ave Music Festival. It is a week worth of local artists performing at local venues. The best part is that most of them are FREE!
